Buff’s Briefs – Number 1 Greetings! It is now almost exactly a year since Reg did the last update on the news page and as so much has happened to me and the band since then I thought I would take my turn and give an update. Obviously anyone who has seen us this year will have spotted that I lost the “hump” that I was carrying around for what had seemed an eternity, (thanks to the Portuguese health service by the way who did the “op” and looked after me well). The band carried on without me whilst I recuperated and I rejoined again in January. To coincide with my return we have slightly changed our set and style of music and whilst a lot of old favourites still remain at present the plan is to carry on this evolution in the future. Amazingly, the 18 th October this year will be the 10 th anniversary of our first gig and whilst we have no formal plans in place yet to mark this I am sure we can come up with something between us and we will naturally keep you informed as they say. On the gig front we have reduced our diary dates slightly this year due to other non-music commitments but have retained all of our favourite venues. We are starting to look at next year now and will look to add a few extra gigs from this year so if you know of a venue where we will go down well then please let us know via this website or at www.myspace.com/xcutsaw. Alternatively, approach anyone of us at a gig either before, after or in the break (Dirk’s usually stood at the bar). Some highlights coming up are:- On the 3 rd August we have our usual Friday night gig during Swanage Carnival and Regatta which is on the seafront stage. This is always a stonking night and I understand Dirk has rubbed his seaweed or whatever it is he rubs these days, and is predicting good weather for the night. We are on stage at nine o’clock and play for about 2 hours straight through. The following Friday we are at Whitsbury near Fordingbridge for the “Cartwheel” annual beer festival. This is also a guaranteed good night and when we played there a couple of years ago we were out in the garden so again good weather is required. On the Saturday night of that weekend we are in the forest at Tiptoe for a gig at the Plough which is also a nice venue to watch bands so please join us if you can. We have also just agreed a support slot at Thomas Tripp late ‘n’ live with Eddie and the Hot Rods. This is on Thursday 13 th September and as yet ticket arrangements are being finalised so watch this space. That’s it for now more soon. Buff’ |
