Buff’s Briefs – Number 2  

Greetings!  

Welcome to the latest edition of news from the “Saw” camp.

 The outdoor gigs referred to in my last brief all went very well although Dirk got into a bit of trouble at home after our gig at the Whitsbury Beer Festival. It was an unfortunate misunderstanding caused by the current habit some breweries have of giving suggestive names to some of their products, and to be fair to Mrs. Dirk many women would have reacted in the same way at being told by their husband that the reason he was late home was because the barmaid let him have “a leg over” after the gig.

Luckily, bruises soon heal and Dirk looked as sprightly as ever last week at our support gig with Eddie and the Hot Rods at Thomas Tripp Late ‘n’ Live, and especially so later after finding himself locked in a room upstairs with a fridge full of complimentary beer while the Hot Rods performed. Somehow he managed to keep himself entertained throughout his ordeal.

One other piece of news whilst on the subject of our superstar drummer is that he is trying to contact the man he sold a particular vehicle to back in the sixties. He assures me that the reason he is trying to contact a Mr. Plant from the Midlands is to find out if the van in question is still on the road and not to try and secure either the drum seat or indeed some free tickets for a concert at the O2 arena in November.

On the future gig front I am pleased to report that we are returning to the Manor Arms at Burton on the 17 th November after an absence of a couple of years. This was always one of our favourite venues over many years and it was only through a change of ownership that we stopped playing there as the music programme was temporarily ceased. When it re-started it somehow has never been convenient to come back until now so it will be nice to return and perhaps see some old friends.

We also have a couple of other favourite gigs in November with the Inn on the Furlong in Ringwood on Tuesday the 6 th and The Thomas Tripp pub in Christchurch on Sunday 11 th. Both guaranteed good nights and with our newly renovated P.A. speakers I am sure our sound will be beautifully crystal clear.

We are starting to look at 2008 and hopefully it will be a busy one for us. We have been looking at some new songs and there maybe a bit of a “new feature” to start the second set, watch this space ……
